Are expensive products better?

In a word -- No. Some soaps that are $10 dollars shave just as well as those that cost $40, and the same is true with razors and brushes. Shaving brushes become more expensive depending on the material of the handles and the grades of badger hairs by each manufacturer, but to say the $500 Plisson is better than the $50 Vulfix would be a hard thing to do. Straight razors usually hover in the price range of $100-200 unless it is a custom maker. The scale material and type of steel can also dictate the price making some over $1,000. In the end, they should all cut equally well regardless of looks. All in all, it is best to buyer beware, read comments and reviews from those that you trust, and ultimately try it for yourself.
